Who we are

  • Mrs Win Sheldon

    Chair of Governors

My family has lived in Dorset for over thirty years. We have practised our faith within the parish throughout that time. My husband and I have two grown up children and celebrated the birth of our first Grandchild just before Christmas. I retired last year from a long career in education , where I had been a Headteacher of a successful Catholic Primary School in Dorset. I have always found having contact with schools to be very fulfilling. It is a great privilege to work with professional and committed staff, who enable children to grow and learn in a safe and happy environment. I look forward to having the opportunity to support the community of St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s, which provides the children with a Christian environment which celebrates them as individuals and encourages them to develop positive attitudes to learning.

  • Mrs Susan Bessant

    Vice Chair of Governors

Having grown up in the Poole/Wareham area we moved to Wool in 2014. Our 2 children both attend the school with 1 currently in Year 5 and 1 currently in Year 1.
I am a Chair of Trustees at a pre-school nursery, having been there for a number of years now. This has given me a sound knowledge within the Early Years Foundation Stage area which I can bring to my role as EYFS Governor. I am also the Health & Safety Governor, having previously been a Foundation Governor at another primary school where I was on the Premises/Health & Safety Committee.
We have been a very active practising Christian family for the last ten years, I a worship leader and involved with children's ministry.
It is a real privilege to have the opportunity to serve as a governor at St Mary & St Joseph's. I look forward to getting to know the school, staff and parents much better and making a positive contribution and impact on our children’s education and development.

I have worked as a teaching assistant for the past 21 years at Dorset Police Headquarters in Winfrith. My 4 boys all left home some years ago and we have 20 grandchildren attending various schools in the UK and some in Germany, hence my interest in schools and current schooling issues.
